Flavouring Water with Essential Oils

"Water is boring."

I hear it all the time from customers and patients that I would encourage to drink more water. So, I would challenge them...what if water didn't have to be boring?

My thirsty friends, you have options! You can flavour with traditional choices like lemon, cucumber, berries, and mint. Or you can try essential oils and have delicious new options at your finger tips each day.

Let's first address the elephant in the room, internal consumption of essential oils. Internal consumption is a hot debate and for one good reason - NOT ALL ESSENTIAL OILS ARE OF THE SAME QUALITY. In fact, recent studies by independent researchers show that of over 40 essential oil companies tested, 37 of them sell oils that have been adulterated (adding ingredients to their oils to make them smell like pure essential oils). Do not put just any essential oil into your body or on your skin! If you are going to use essential oils, especially internally, please ensure that you use dōTERRA. They are one of the three companies who passed quality testing, they are transparent with their testing (each bottle can be traced back to the original GCMS report), and they sustainably source their oils from the most ideal growing location for their plants.

Now that the disclaimer is out there, let's dive into what essential oils are best for adding to water.

Citrus Oils - Lemon, Lime, Grapefruit, Green Mandarin, Tangerine, Wild Orange,

Mint Oils - Peppermint, Spearmint

Other - Pink Pepper

My favourite afternoon pick-me-up is a glass of Perrier with a drop each of Grapefruit and Lime! Do you have a favourite?
