DIY All Purpose Spray

Can we talk cleaning? And can we talk cleaning with essential oils that are not only versatile and affordable, but are also non-toxic so you don't have to worry about what chemicals you bring into your home? One of the first things I did when I brought doTERRA oils into our home was to make over my cleaning cabinet. I make 80% of my cleaning products at home and do so for less than $1.50 per bottle.

Sound too good to be true? Read on, my friend.

Let's talk about what essential oils are first. They are natural aromatic compounds that have a variety of benefits. They come from different parts of the plant - stem, root, petal, resin, flower, rind, seeds, and bark for example. While they work often as defence mechanisms in nature, as humans we can use essential oils for their healing potential. Many oils have anti-bacterial properties and not only can that support our health but it can also be beneficial around our home.

10 Oils that Pack Cleansing Powers

  • Tea Tree

  • Eucalyptus

  • Peppermint

  • Thyme

  • Lavender

  • OnGuard

  • Lemongrass

  • Purify

  • Cinnamon

  • Rosemary

Best part? All of these oils are less than 15¢/drop.

Add any combination of these oils to my recipe below and you've got a home cleaner that you can feel confident in it's cleaning power and feel good about not using products with chemicals, toxins, and by-products.

What you need:

  • glass spray bottle

  • spray top

  • tap water

  • 1 tbsp OnGuard cleaner concentrate OR Dr. Bronner's castille soap

  • EOs of choice

Fill your spray bottle 80% full with water. Add 1 tbsp of the castille soap and then 10-15 drops of your EO of choice. Depending on how large your bottle is {I use an 8 oz bottle} depends on how many drops you want to put in.

PRO TIP:

Purchase super cute glass spray bottles from online stores or rock the DIY world and re-use a Perrier or San Pellegrino bottle. The threads in the neck of those bottles fit perfectly to a spray top. Winning!

Best part is that when you run out, it's as simple as filling up your bottle and making a new batch in less than 30 seconds. No trips to the store and you can re-use the same bottle and sprayer over and over. You can feel good about your impact on the environment.

Clean on, my friends. Clean on.
